Your site, if approved, is being offered a complimentary advertisement.
We are not operating a "reciprocal link farm." For that reason, as a member, you agree to add, and retain, our logo on your home
page, or, an appropriate "about us" or "press/memberships" page. Exceptions will be made for your "partner links" or "useful links" pages only if the page is fully cached and Google page ranked. |

The text or logo must be "static" -- i.e., not rotate or be exchanged with others
banners or logos in its place (rotating banners decrease our visibility,
whereas your visibility remains constant) or adjusted to a small pixel so as to obscure the logo. |

for this complimentary promotion, already in place for our review,

FREQUENTLY ASKED MEMBERSHIP QUESTIONS
Does Socially Responsible require an
Affiliate Program, or collect commissions on sales?
No! Socially
Responsible does not charge per page view or per click through. We will not
"affiliate" with your site and we will not collect commissions or other forms of
revenue other than your annual membership fee. Your business is your OWN.
While we are here to promote it, we will never ask you to be accountable to us
for your sales or for the traffic we send to you.
Can I
pay for a "better listing" on pages
where my link appears?
No.
Socially Responsible insists on a level playing field for all members on any
given page. Links are listed in alphabetical order. While certain
links will also contain a one sentence introduction (which may be keywords or a
brief description of the member's craft or product), that text is provided by the
member. While introductory sentences are strongly encouraged, they are not
required. The only exception is "Staff Favorite" links. If we collectively
use and love a product or service, we will often highlight that product or
service, higher on the page.
Is there
any other means by which I can get additional exposure for my listing?
Yes. Members are invited to become a "Featured Business" on
SociallyResponsible.Org. by paying a nominal
fee. This form is presently under construction while our team decides how
best to display Featured Listings. In addition, every listing on our website,
including a Featured Business, will automatically be considered for the "Socially Responsible Business of the Year" award.
Will you feature my specials and
coupons on your website? Is there a fee to do so?
Yes, we will, and no, there is no fee. Socially Responsible will
soon feature a "Specials, Promotions, and Coupons" page, linked from our home page
under a Spotlight category,
which will reflect all time-sensitive promotions sponsored by our members.
In order to keep our "main directory" current, we do not add time-sensitive
links or text to your primary listing (for instance: Free Shipping in February!) While we appreciate that this may
be frustrating, our webmaster would forever be required to watch the calendar
and update each and every page of our rapidly growing site when time-sensitive
specials expire (and alas, you often forget to tell us when they expire).
Consequently, there is no additional fee for sharing your specials, promotions,
and coupons, provided they meet our criteria.
What kind
of traffic do you get?
Socially
Responsible enjoys premium visibility on top search destinations including Google, Yahoo!, AOL, MSN,
Iwon, HotBot, Alta Vista, Lycos, Netscape, Excite, NBCi, Go, Infospace and more,
through the extensive pay-per-click program we fund for
members (so you don't have to!).
I'd like to swap banner
advertisements with you so
that we can share our mutual traffic.
We dislike "banner farms" quite a bit -- websites laden with "swapped
banners" that blink and scroll and flash and notify us that we are winners of
everything under the sun -- and we vowed not to become one. We also pride
ourselves on being a membership-driven site without excessive advertising
cluttering up the place. With that said, we will consider, on a
case-by-case basis, banner or logo swaps with businesses which actively and
exclusively promote the socially responsible ethos. Those banner
swaps will be contained on a single page and will not rotate throughout the
site.
